Hudson's Bay

Sea-ice

Ralph E. Taggart WB8DQT

When Arctic or Antarctic pack-ice begins to break up with the onset of summer, it is often difficult to distinguish ice from clouds. Here are two full-resolution NOAA visible-light image subsets showing a part of the western shoreline of Hudson's Bay on two successive days. The cloud patterns are different on the two days but the sea-ice pattern changes very little.
