The morning begins with a major front covering both Lake Michigan and Michigan. Underneath those clouds it was snowing until about 14:00 UTC. The adjacent land areas are colder than the lake itself and Chicago and the sorrounding areas of Illinois and Wisconsin are quite clear. By late afternoon and early evening, the land areas have heated up to the point where they are war,er than the lake water, which is gradually becoming more visible as the front moves to the ENE. The clear morning weather for Chicago and points west has given way to heavy cloud cover by day's end.
