Hessel, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is located along the north
shore of Lake Huron, nestled among the scenic Les Cheneaux
Islands. The tradition of wooden boat-building is still very much alive in this area, and,
once each summer, Hessel hosts its annual Antique Wooden Boat Show, attracting visitors
from far and wide. The show emphasizes the Chris Craft line of boats, but features
everything from kayaks and canoes up through powered yachts and schooners. I shot a lot of
pictures with my Digital Twin-camera stereo
rig, which was well-suited for a day of outdoor shooting with flawless lighting
conditions. These really are low resolution images compared to all the standard gallaries,
since each camera only produces a 640 x 480 image. However, the camera is simple and fun,
so I have decided to include some sample images.

Boats in the water are out at the end of access docks in the
marina.

Every boat in sight is a work of art!

A fine example of a wooden sailboat.

The motor of this small inboard is almost as interesting as the
woodwork.

An elegant canoe equipped with a sailing rig.

Every aspect of the boats on display was a tribute to the pride of
their owners.
