PRA Chapter 63

Meetings

Our meetings are relaxed and informal, with an emphasis on fellowship and education. Several members fly in to the meetings during the warmer months of the year. Chapter President, Merv Read, always arrives by air - that's his red 532 Air Command in the foreground. He is based at the Livingston County airport in Howell, about 13 miles from Fowlerville's Maple Grove field. Ralph Taggart or Don Chubb often fly in from Mason's Bergeon Field, located about 27 miles from Maple Grove. That's their Gyrobee ultralight behind Merv's ship. The gyro in the background is Jim Field's prototype HoneyBee ultralight. Jim flew over with Ralph from Mason on this particular October day.

During the winter we pretty much stay inside, with the usual business meeting and then a typical show-and-tell session where members bring shop drawings or parts and describe their current projects. During the warmer weather, we sit around outside telling lies - excuse me, I meant flying stories - and looking over member's aircraft and construction projects. Here everybody gathers around to offer their opinions on Jim Fields new HoneyBee, which had its first public flight demonstration at one of our meetings.

Maple Grove airport is a delightful sod field with both east-west and north-south runways. Here Don Chubb lifts off in the ultralight Gyrobee for the trip back home to Mason. Whether you arrive by air or by car, come on over on the second Saturday of every month and join the fun!
