In Memoriam

It is with profound sadness that I report that Alan Coates passed away on 17 May 2006 as a result of a crash in his Gyrobee. There is almost no information availale at the moment, beyond the fact that one witness reported a "sputtering" engine prior to the crash. When more information is available, I will include it on a new Accident Investigation page. What we do know is that Alan loved flying his new machine and that his loss, while affecting most of us, is profound beyond words to his family.

Alan Coates of Ponca City, Oklahoma had his 'Bee done early in 2006. His first flight around the pattern in his new ship was on 28 February 2006. The smiling photo below was taken after this flight.
